Our class worked very hard on "How to..." writing in January and February. As a fun finale, we all had a chance to chew gum and teach others how to blow a bubble. After our shared experience everyone wrote the directions and made a self-portrait of them chewing gum. The “bubble” is made out of a pink balloon. This was a favorite project for many and made for a fun day!

Frosty the Snowman
Another fun and unique snoman art project inspired by the book Pip and Squeak by Ian Schoenherr. Students tore white paper to make the head and cut the eyes and nose free hand. I just love that each one is different.
Welcome Mrs. Heyer!
We are so lucky to have Kelsey Heyer here with us for her student teaching. She is energetic, kind, and a great teacher too! Her last day with us will be in mid March but until then, we will enjoy every minute we have together.

Snowman Perspective
We have been busy, busy bees these past few weeks. With all the anticipation for snow I decided we needed some fun snow art that was unique. This snowman is looking up to the sky. We called this a "birds eye" view.

Reading Central!
To become a better reader you must... READ, READ, READ!
It's a frenzy of reading happening in room 22! Everyday when children come in the classroom in the morning, we settle in by reading books either to a partner or by ourselves. Many students love to read familiar favorites and everyone loves to read with reading pointers. Sometimes I cannot even get my class to stop reading to start our day. I guess I could have worse problems. :)

It's Fall...
Fall in Room 22
Made with Q-tips and paint
Fall Poems Using our 5 Senses
As a class we went on a walk around the school to observe signs of fall while using our 5 senses. The next day we planned our poem using what we observed. Everyone made sure to add describing words to make their writing more interesting. On the last day we used our best handwriting to publish our poems and used leaves that we collected to make leaf rubbings for the background. They turned out beautiful!

Welcome to Our New Classroom Website!
I am so excited to try out blogger this year! I have always thought my SWIFT classroom website left much to be desired. It was bulky and not very user friendly. My goal is to update this website with current happenings and to allow you to pass on this link to family members who are involved in your child's life. I hope this website helps families who are not able to volunteer in the classroom feel more connected. Let me know what you think!
